LMAIS schools hold a strong belief in the necessity for ongoing professional development for their teachers and administration. As schools constantly evolve, LMAIS schools focus on providing their teachers and administration with opportunities to expand their skills, develop new administrative and teaching strategies based on current research and best practice, and deepen their understanding of today's students, their families, and the community influences affecting education.
Sharing knowledge is a critical part of ongoing professional development. Whether through the LMAIS General Meetings held throughout the year or presenting at regional and national conferences, LMAIS administration and staff contribute their knowledge and experiences to the ever changing educational landscape.
Teachers from sixteen LMAIS schools presented a variety of sessions at the November 2016 Annual ISACS Conference in Columbus, OH. The ISACS (Independent Schools Association of the Central States) brings together administration and teachers from independent schools across thirteen states.
In addition, LMAIS teachers have recently presented at, among others, the National Science Teachers Association, Illinois Computing Educators, Association for Middle Level Education, National Council for Teachers of English, and the IL Library and Media Association conferences.
